Searching for files to retrieve

When you use the Search function to find a specific file or folder name to retrieve, the WD SmarWare™ software searches for the name across all categories and displays the search results, either:

To retrieve the found files:

  1. Repeat the search function as many times as you need to find the files or folders you want by typing a new name in the search box and pressing the Enter key.
  2. To exit the search function, clear all characters from the search box and press the Enter key.
  3. If the WD SmartWare software found multiple versions of a file or folder, clear the check boxes for the ones that you want to exclude from the retrieve.
  4. Click Start Retrieving.
  5. The WD SmartWare software retrieves the selected files from the selected backed up volume on your My Book or My Passport drive and copies them to the specified destination on your computer.
