Selecting a destination for retrieved files
Use the select a destination for retrieved files dialog to specify where you want to copy the files retrieved from the selected My Book or My Passport drive. Your destination options depend on where the selected backed up volume was created. If the selected backup volume was created from:
- An internal drive or drive partition on this computer, then you can copy the retrieved files to either:
- The original places on the internal drive or drive partition
- A retrieved content folder
- Another computer, then original places option is not available and you must copy the retrieved files to a retrieved content folder
To select a destination for retrieved files:
- Select the Where would you like to copy your retrieved files? option:
- To the Original Places
- To a Retrieved Content Folder
- If you select To a Retrieved Content Folder, the WD SmartWare software creates and uses a folder called Retrieved Contents in the My Documents folder for your user name.
If you want to specify a different folder:
- Either:
- Type the path and name of a new folder that you want to create and use in the retrieve folder box.
- Click the Browse button and use the browse function to specify an existing folder.
- Click Apply to save and implement the new folder selection.
- Click Next to display the Select content to retrieve... dialog.
