------------------------------------------------- Rome Total Realism Platinum Edition by the RTR Platinum Team With the support of the RTR Forums Community. Copyright (C) 2005, 2006, 2007 Rome Total Realism v1.9 - 14 June 2007 Rome Total Realism - http://www.totalrealism.net Total War Center - http://www.twcenter.net The RTR Platinum Edition Community Project This software was developed for the Rome Total Realism and Total War Center's community in an effort to enhance its game play experience. ------------------------------------------------- Notes for Rome Total Realism Platinum Edition: ------------------------------------------------- This mod is a community based conversion of Rome Total Realism 6 Gold (RTR Gold) for use with the Rome - Total War (RTW) v1.5 game engine. The many fans of Rome Total Realism have come together to make the porting of RTR Gold to the RTW v1.5 game engine possible. With the conversion to the RTW v1.5 game engine, RTR Platinum will be able to have the night-fighting ability, more diplomacy options, and will be able to take advantage of the AI improvements and general game engine improvements available with the RTW v1.5 patch. So, while we patiently wait, or not so patiently, for the upcoming release of RTR v7.0 using the BI v1.6 game engine, we can now enjoy some of the new features that will be part of RTR v7.0 in our ol' favorite RTR Gold. Further information concerning this mod can be found in the RTR sub-forum devoted to this mod. ------------------------------------------------- Licence Agreement: ------------------------------------------------- Terms of Use: This software is FREEWARE. This is due to numerous updates/corrections to the "descr_regions.txt", "descr_regions_and_settlement_name_lookup.txt", "imperial_campaign_regions_and_settlement_names.txt", and "descr_strat.txt" files. ------------------------------------------------- Installation Instructions: ------------------------------------------------- 1. Prior to installing RTR Platinum, you will need a fresh install of Vanilla RTW(v1.0). Download and patch RTW to the following patch versions, in the order listed. a. RTW v1.3 patch b. RTW v1.5 patch Note: You can also install RTR Platinum on a RTW Gold install. While installing RTW Gold, if you install RTW (which is already patched in the RTW Gold set to v1.5) and then install BI from the RTW Gold set, you may need to patch RTW/BI with the v1.6 patch. The BI install that comes with some copies of RTW Gold reverse patches RTW to v1.3, an error on the part of Sega when they packaged some of the RTW Gold cd-rom sets. The RTW/BI v1.6 patch is available from the Sega/CA RTW website. 2. Download the RTR Platinum v1.9 full installer and install it to your fresh RTW directory. 3. After the auto installer has finished installing RTR Platinum v1.9, you will be asked by the auto installer to allow a "campaign_map_reset.bat" batch file to run. This batch file will automatically delete any "map.rwm" file in any of the 3 possible locations... a. Data\world\maps\base <<============================= Location for the "map.rwm" file with RTW v1.2 patch. b. Data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign <<======= Location for the "map.rwm" file with RTW v1.5 patch. c. Data\world\maps\campaign\base <<==================== Erroneous location of a "map.rwm" file from the early beta RTR Platinum versions. (Note: This final location removal has been left in for those few individuals you will insist on not installing RTR Platinum on a fresh RTW v1.5 install. This will not correct all their problems from having done this, but will eliminate at least one problem. Some people are completely stubborn and insist on learning things the hard way.) Allowing this batch file to run will automatically remove any "map.rwm" file from the above known locations, allowing you to start playing RTR Platinum without any problems due to the presence of any old "map.rwm" files. If you wish, you may choose to not allow this, but must then manually insure any old "map.rwm" files are deleted before starting RTR Platinum v1.9. Here is a copy of the text of the "campaign_map_reset.bat" batch file... rem ========================================================================================= rem This is a dos batch file written by Marcus Camillus to delete any possible map.rwm files. cd data\world\maps\base del map.rwm cd.. cd campaign\imperial_campaign del map.rwm cd.. cd base del map.rwm rem ========================================================================================= 4. Start up RTR Platinum and go show your favorite arch-nemesis faction who's the new boss in the ancient world of RTR. You will now be experiencing your RTR campaigns with the new features and benefits of the RTW v1.5 game engine. Enjoy! ------------------------------------------------- Known limitations: ------------------------------------------------- Total unit balancing to the old RTR Gold standards is complete. Any further unit rebalancing will be done by community modding initiatives for any possible personal preference add-on mods for RTR Platinum. Please report any problems to the Bug Reporting section for RTR Platinum Edition in the RTR Forums or TWCenter Forums. Please specify all possible details and preferably with attached screenshot pictures of the bugs encountered. ------------------------------------------------- Latest Changes/Update Log: ------------------------------------------------- 04/16/2006 - Release of v1.2, initial release of mod. 04/23/2006 - Release of v1.3, patches & updates. 05/04/2006 - Release of v1.4, full installer + latest updates. 05/25/2006 - Release of v1.5, a new patch with latest updates for people who have previously downloaded v1.3 and v1.4. 07/10/2006 - Release of v1.6, a new patch with the latest updates/fixes for patching v1.3, v1.4, and v1.5 to the RTR Platinum v1.6 release.
